Penelope has lived in Menlo Park for 24 years. Born in London and raised in South Africa, she made her home here when she took a sabbatical from her high school teaching career. She quickly incorporated her love of teaching into a Real Estate career because she believes being educated on the market, understanding value and appreciating the aesthetics of a home are the cornerstones of making good financial decisions. She is committed to her belief that there is a right home and a right lifestyle for everyone. As a Broker, Penelope combines her love of Real Estate and people, with her detailed oriented nature, her marketing skills and an ability to negotiate contracts effectively to achieve the best possible outcomes not only for her clients but for everyone involved in the transaction. Creating a win-win is the foundation of her success and the basis for her ever-growing referral based business.
In keeping with her focus on education, Penelope holds several recognized Real Estate designations reflecting her professionalism and expertise: GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) and CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) held by approximately 6% and 4% respectively of the Real Estate licensees nationwide. In addition she recently obtained the CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) designation to ensure a full understanding of how best to help buyers and sellers navigate the unfortunate foreclosure/short sale crisis which affected the Real Estate industry.
Penelope focuses on keeping with the RE/MAX tradition of giving back to the community by encouraging each of her agents to join her in donating proceeds of each transaction to worthy causes like the Children's Miracle Network, Susan G. Komen and the Menlo Park - Atherton Education Foundation. Penelope also volunteer teaches with Mid-Peninsula Regional Open Space District.
Penelope is 100% dedicated to Real Estate as a profession and to the associates in her office. She is committed do what it takes for them to offer the highest level of excellence and service to their clients. In 2011, Penelope served as a director for the California Association of Realtors (150,000 members), and the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (4000 members) and in 2012 was appointed to the MLS Listings Board of Directors (16,000 members). Keeping a pulse on the politics of the business ensures that she is always abreast of each new development affecting the industry and the private property rights of homeowners.
Penelope cares deeply for her community and local residential neighborhoods. She is an active member of Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association. She chairs the Transportation Commission for the City of Menlo Park and is actively engaged in local politics.
